CATEGORIES
Landscape
Landscape photography is the opportunity to capture the presence of nature and convey the powerful feeling of the scene. This was my initial focus due to my love of open spaces and nature. One must be patient to capture the right moment for the scene and very reliant on light which can be frustrating but very rewarding when captured.
Urban
A broad category which covers urban skylines through to street photography. Cities have their own character and photography can capture the essence of the location.
Rural
A difficult category due to the need to make sure the elements in the photo represent what farmers strive for. The photographer must know what constitutes good animals, crop and equipment. A knowledgeable rural audience will pan a poor selection. I have lived my life on the land or been associated with it so I love to capture inspiring representation of rural life.
People&portraits
Quickly developing as a favourite category – how to capture the inner soul in the subject. Best when candid but also fantastic when a subject responds naturally and spontaneously.
Religious cultural
As one travels there is the opportunity to be exposed to the historic, the exotic, the embedded and the influential from a religious or cultural perspective. Often awe inspiring dedications to different faiths.
Flora&fauna
Capturing nature in a way that is pleasing to the eye or conjures a feeling of wonder at the magnificence of nature.
Macro
The hidden world of the micro elements revealed.
Other
Often there is the opportunity to capture something truly different that does not fit into any prescribed category. This section allows the freedom to display these photos.
